Describe your part
Most enquiries that turn into orders start without a CAD file. Fill this in and you will get a considered reply: a price if the job is straightforward, questions first if it is not.
What to include
- What the part is and what it attaches to
- Where it lives: indoors, outdoors, hot, wet, loaded, handled
- The quantity, and whether this is a one-off or the first of several
- The date you actually need it by, if there is one
- Rough dimensions, or a photograph with a steel rule in shot
- Any dimension that has to be held, so it goes on the check list
None of it is compulsory. Every one of them saves a round trip.
If you do have a file
Use the instant estimate instead. It is faster and it gives you the full cost build-up. An STL or 3MF is measured inside your own browser, so a confidential design can be priced without ever being uploaded.
STEP, IGES, OBJ, native CAD files and dimensioned drawings come by email and are quoted by hand, usually the same working day.
Practicalities
Where we are, how parts reach you, and how you pay
Service area
Based in Folkestone, Kent, working across the county, Folkestone, Sandgate, Cheriton, Saltwood, Hawkinge, Hythe and the rest of East Kent.
This is a service-area business with no trade counter and no public street address. Everywhere else in the UK is served by tracked courier.
Collection and delivery
Collection in Folkestone is free and by arrangement: we agree a time once your parts are off the plate, and it is usually the fastest route.
Free local delivery on orders over £40 around Folkestone, Sandgate, Cheriton, Hythe, Saltwood and Hawkinge. Elsewhere in East Kent by arrangement.
UK-wide by tracked courier, charged at cost and shown before you pay.
Invoicing
Every job is invoiced, with your purchase order number carried onto it if you send one. Invoiced on completion, 14 days for account customers.
New customers settle on completion before collection or dispatch. Bank transfer or card. Batch orders over £250 can be split into a deposit and a balance.
We are not VAT registered, so the quoted figure is the invoiced figure, nothing to add, nothing to reclaim.
What happens after you send this
It reaches a person, not a queue. Every enquiry is read and answered by Louis Wharmby, who also prints the parts, so you get a reply within one working day and usually sooner, from whoever would actually do the work. If the job is straightforward, that first reply contains a price. If it needs measuring, modelling or a decision about material and orientation, it contains questions first: because a price given before those are answered is a guess.
What you send is used to answer your enquiry and for nothing else. You are not added to a mailing list, and nothing is passed to a third party. If you would like your details and any files removed once the enquiry is closed, say so and you will get confirmation when it is done: the privacy notice sets out the detail.
Faster route
Already have the geometry?
The instant estimate opens your STL or 3MF in the browser, measures it, checks it against the build envelope and shows the whole cost build-up: usually inside a minute.
Instant estimate. We confirm the price once we've sliced your file.
